In a recent update, Quad announced a significant move, revealing plans to shut down operations at its Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Bolingbrook, Ill., facilities during the first half of 2024. The decision is part of the company's ongoing strategy to adapt to the ever-changing media landscape, aiming to optimize its platform, as mentioned in the statement.

Quad clarified that the choice to close these facilities stemmed from industry trends, such as shifts in the volume of certain print categories like magazines and an increase in postal costs. The Saratoga Springs plant is scheduled to wrap up operations by May 4, impacting around 435 employees at the printing facility.

Joel Quadracci, Quad's Chairman, President, and CEO, shared insights into the company's vision. Despite the changes, Quad is committed to fine-tuning its platform for the future, positioning itself as a marketing experience (MX) company. Joel emphasized that print remains a crucial and strategic element of their integrated marketing platform, covering both traditional and digital channels.

The Saratoga Springs facility, initially established in 1984 for newsweekly magazine production, will see its workload relocated to Quad's other facilities in Hartford, Wisconsin, The Rock, Georgia, and Springfield, Massachusetts.

In an effort to support affected employees, Quad is extending incentives for relocation to their other company facilities. Alternatively, for those choosing not to relocate, the company is offering a separation package. This package encompasses severance pay, continuation of health care benefits, and career transition assistance.

Shifting gears to local happenings, Warren County introduces a new snowmobile trail app, catering to outdoor enthusiasts keen on exploring the snowy landscapes. On a somber note, State Police respond to a fatal Sand Lake driveway accident, emphasizing the importance of caution and safety on the roads.
